HOW IT WORKS / FAQ’s

Q: Are my therapy sessions secure?

A: The reason we chose eTherapi is because of its HIPAA-compliant level of data encryption and firewall protection. Of course, there is risk inherent in any online transaction, which you assume, but we’ve taken every precaution to use the most up-to-date protections.

Q: What types of clients/cases do you treat?

A: Our team of licensed marriage and family therapists offer couples, individual, and family therapy. We help resolve marital strife, sexual dysfunction, parenting hang-ups, bereavement, blended family struggles, dating issues, depression and anxiety management, and much more (see Find a Therapist for individual areas of specialty).

Q: Do you offer therapy to anyone, anywhere?

A: That is the goal. However, individual states vary in their regulations regarding interstate therapy (i.e. when the therapist works in one state and the client lives in another). At this time we’re available to see clients from Alaska, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah [Jonathan only], and West Virginia. As states revise their regulations, and as we hire new therapists, we’ll be expanding our availability to more states.

Q: How do I schedule an appointment?

A: Visit our Find a Therapist page and peruse our counselors to find one you think would be a good fit for you. Click on the “Request an Appointment” button. This will take you to their eTherapi profile, where you can browse their availability or request a specific time. You’ll need to create an eTherapi account; it’s free (you only pay for your therapy sessions, with no hidden fees), it’s confidential, and it’s very user-friendly. Their site will walk you through the simple process of signing up and scheduling an appointment.

Q: Is what we talk about confidential?

A: We are bound by law and by our code of ethics to maintain utter confidentiality. Your information, and what you divulge in session, will never be shared without your consent. However, if you report ongoing abuse of a minor or handicapped/elderly individual, or divulge plans to harm yourself or others, we have a duty to report and will do so, for your safety and that of others.

Q: Do you take insurance?

A: We do not at this time.

Q: How do I pay?

A: Through debit or credit card.

Q: How much do you charge?

A: Depending on the counselor, our rates are $110-$130 per session. Some of our counselors will offer unique therapy packages as well. Details coming soon.

A: Our therapists are licensed as marriage and family therapists, with all of the education, training, testing, supervision, and work experience that licensure requires. They all have graduate-level counseling degrees (masters and/or PhDs) and are specifically trained and experienced in the field of couples and family dynamics.
